The museum is free and open to the public
In order to make your visit to the museum safe and comfortable, we have adopted the following measures in accordance with state and local government guidelines and the Alliance for Historic Hillsborough:
The museum will be cleaned regularly at the beginning of each day and periodically throughout the day.
Visitors are limited to 1 group of no more than six at a time.
Please book a time to visit by calling us at 919-732-2201, or contacting us through the website.
The front door will remain locked. If you arrive during museum hours, simply call 919-732-2201 and we will answer the door or, if the museum is full, make reservations for another time.
All visitors over the age of 5 must wear masks. If you do not have one, we will provide you with a mask.
Staff will maintain 6 feet social distancing from visitors.

You and your group of up to 6 members total will have the whole museum to yourself to privately view our new temporary exhibit, Yésah: Journeys of the Occaneechi, and our re-vitalized permanent exhibit.
We highly recommend booking your entry ahead of time to ensure you will be able to enter and enjoy the museum.
The Orange County Historical Museum is located on the corner of N. Churton and W. Tryon streets
in downtown Hillsborough, NC.
Please note: because the building is historic, the entrance includes stairs both outside and inside the museum.

A free, municipal lot is also available two blocks away on W. Margaret Lane.
